Al-rightly, due to half of our group being sick we are going to postpone craft group until next Thursday, December 16th at 7:30pm. Same activity, same cost- $10. If anyone else wants to still join in let me know by next Tuesday the 14th and I can still get you a letter. You need to being your own paper and ribbon still. December Craft Club

Sorry ladies for not being on the ball with this! Life has definitely been crazy...but I am still planning on hosting December's craft group. We will make those big letter initials with scrapbook paper, hung by ribbon. I will be having it at my house, December 9th at 7:30pm. I will provide the letters, black paint for the edges, and modge podge. You will have to bring your own scrapbook paper and ribbon to coordinate. I used about seven different patterns of paper in coordinating red, black, and greens but you can do whatever you like for yourself! If you could let me know if you are coming and want a letter by Tuesday December 7th that would be great because I will go pick up the letters on Wednesday. Cfaft club for 2011

After talking to most of you about craft club, the main vote is to still do it, but to do a craft with a maximum cost of $20.00, but only every 3 months. So, how does everyone feel about doing that for months: March, June, September, and December? If this sounds good, who would like to take a month and which one?

Alright ladies, here is the craft for November.

With the supplies I've bought so far, each person can have up to nine ornaments. You can see I only used seven. The example I showed used five. It's up to you!

Does anyone know of anyone else who is interested in coming? I've bought all of the supplies already, but need to know soon if we need to adjust for more people.

As of right now, the price for each person is $5.25.

I got two colors of spray paint: gold and silver. If you want something different, you'll have to do it on your own. I figure those are both pretty neutral. Also, I have a variety of ornaments - there are the blues, purples, and pinks I used, but also lots of silver, gold, red, and green, too, if you want a more traditional look. It will be first come, first serve that nite!

November 11th @ 7:00 p.m. at my house!

Please let me know ASAP if you know someone else who wants to come. I said it before - but things are going to be incredibly busy for me starting tomorrow (we all are, aren't we?!?!) so my time to get out and get to the store is going to be quite limited. Alrighty, here's what I've got so far for November craft group.

We will be meeting on Thursday, November 11th, at 7:00 p.m. at my house.

You will need to provide your own frame (or wreath).

I will provide spray paint for your frame/wreath. I will probably have three colors, likely just generic colors that could go with most decor (i.e. silver, gold, red, etc.) If you want something different, then you'll have to do it on your own!

I will also provide the ribbon and ornaments.

Sarah N. asked about the size of the frame. I actually have no clue what size the frame I showed a picture is, but if I had to guess, I would say 11x14. I'm just going to assume we'll all be in that range for ribbon buying purposes.

November Book Club

Hey Girls! Sarah Armes will be hosting November's Book Club which is going to be "A Yellow Raft in Blue Water" by Michael Dorris. Sounds fun! With Thanksgiving being on the last Thursday of the month, we'll have to do it the 18th. I'm going to see if I can do a hold on multiple copies of the book at the library, so please don't try to put it on hold yet. I'll let you know if it doesn't work or if there are any changes. Sorry I am kind of late with getting info together for this. October has flown by, and it has just been a crazy busy month!

I have a committment in Provo on November 4th, so I will probably have to do craft group on November 11th. I know there is something going on that nite that will conflict with craft group for some of us, but I don't know what else to do! Wednesdays are out for me because Josh has elder's quorum that nite and wouldn't be home to take my kids. So I'm sorry in advance for whoever this causes a conflict for!

Here is what I am thinking of doing:

I will not be providing frames. I am hoping that if you want a frame, you have one you would be able to bring. I am planning on using an old one I have. (I may have extra, but don't know that for sure at the moment.) It can really be as big or small as you want. I would provide spray paint for your frame.

If you do not want to do a frame, I can look into prices for wreaths. I may be able to find some at a dollar store, which would be awesome, but no guarantees. If you get Michael's or Joann's or Hobby Lobby's coupons, you may want to choose to pick up your own wreath so that you could use your coupon.

Please let me know what you would do/want me to do for that part of the craft.

I will provide all of the ribbon and ornaments for this door decoration. I will not be paper mache-ing all of them for us to paint like the ones shown (sorry, WAY too much work!) but I will still have something fun and pretty to hang.

I can't give you an idea on price yet, as I have not been to the store. But I will do my best to keep it $10 or under - I promise! I am a big coupon person, so I'll try to get as much as I can with my coupons.

Craft Club October

This is a reminder that craft club will be on October 7 @ 7:00 p.m. @ my home. As far as paint, I have the paint for the body, gobbler, and the black for the stand if you are doing it. I also have the glitter for the gobbler. The only paint you will need to bring will be for the feathers of the turkey, and the scrapbook paper you want to use. If you are wanting to do the same colors that they have on the turkey @ Wood Connection, you could share it with 3 or 4 people, you don't need that much, there are just 8 different colors. Here are the colors they used, all ceramacoat:

Tompte Red, Empire Gold, Pansy, Leaf Green, Navy Blue, Poppy Orange, Tomato Spice, and Purple.

Hopefully this helps, and it would be a good idea to share the feather paint with 3-4 people, unless you really like those colors and will use them again :)

Book for October...

The book I have chosen for October is "Sarah's Key," by Tatiana De Rosnay. I was worried that a lot of you would be board with Love Smart by Dr. Phil...

I hope everyone will get a chance to read it. I checked online, and I think if you put it on hold ASAP, you should all be able to get it and have time to read it. Craft for October

September has gotten away from me! I just realized I never set a date to meet for book club this month. Let's do it next Thursday, September 23rd, at 7:30 p.m. at my house

October Craft Club

Ok here is the craft for October! I just wanted you to all see him and start thinking about if you want to make him! We will be doing it at my house on October 7th so you can start planning if you can make it. I need to know by September 24th if you want to make one, if you are coming or not.

Here is a break down of costs without paint, jewels, ribbon or glitter. I need to know if you want the turkey and the "give thanks" stand, or just the turkey. I'm fine either way you want to go, it will cost you less if you don't want to do the stand.

Mr. Turkey is $5.75
The stand is $1.25
Vinyl lettering is $2.00

Keep in mind these costs are before tax and as I said I haven't included any of the other things to go along with the craft. As soon as I figure out pricing on the other stuff I will have a more accurate cost, these costs are just the wood craft itself. Also, there are 8 different colors on each of the turkey's feathers, so I will most likely only be providing the black for the stand (if you want it) the paint for both body pieces, and the gobbler.

Another thing you will need to think about is what scrapbook paper you want to put with him. I could probably add that into the cost too, since there isn't that much, but you might want it to match the colors you will paint the feathers. I will post at the bottom the colors of the feathers if you want to match them exactly.

One more thing, if you want to do the stand, they had 2 different sayings so I will need to know which saying you want on your stand. They are: "Give Thanks" and "Harvest Blessings".
Sorry for the long post, but hopefully we can get this done soon so I can pick them all up and have them ready to go for October 7th!

Just thought I better let everyone know what the book is for September.

We're going to be reading These Is My Words by Nancy E. Turner.

I don't have a copy myself, and it is usually requested at the library, so you might want to get on the hold list now! It is a different format that took some getting used to for me, but I really ended up liking the style and the progression and growth of the characters.

Book club will either be on September 23rd or 30th at my house at 7:30 p.m. I'll let you know the date for sure as it gets closer.

Just wanted to let everyone who has signed up for the "WICKED", that craft club will be on Thursday, September 2nd, @ 7:30 pm at my house. Wicked Craft

Hopefully everyone is okay, but the cost ended up being $19.00 each. That includes: The Wicked letters, witch hat, scrapbook paper, orange rafia, purple wire and purple glitter. I already have green and orange glitter, and am totally fine with everyone using it, especially because it is expensive this time. I also have green, purple and black tule that everyone can use. The one at wood connection has orange instead of black, but I didn't dare buy anything else. The cost DOES NOT include paint. You will need Lime Green, Purple, Orange and Black. I have some, but not enough for everyone.

If anyone is about ready to scream about the cost, SORRY !!! But, to bring it down, you could provide your own scrapbook paper, and OR leave out the witch hat. If anyone would prefer that, I am totally fine with returning those things. Let me know if anyone would rather do it that way!!!

Also if anyone wants pay before craft night, that would be great. If not, just make sure you bring your money that night.

I have decided to do the "Wicked" from wood connection. I am not exactly sure on the cost but I am going to go on Saturday to check it out. It may be around $15.00 each, by the time the supplies are added in. Is everyone okay with that? Please let me know by Saturday, because I am thinking I will have to get them ordered. I will post a picture after I go on Saturday, but if you are in for sure let me know before then. Thanks !!!

....I sorta forgot August is my month for Book Club...duh!! July has just been too crazy!! Anyways, sorry for the late post (although if we had July Book Club we would of met tonight and then I would of introduced next months book anyway I guess..) but now I am just rambling..sorry! So for August lets do The Giver by Lois Lowry. It's a great book; pretty short and easy read. Some of you may have read it because it's a common book to read in High School but I think it will be a fun one to do! Plus there are discussion questions in the back of the book- bonus! You'll need to bring your own paint, and the word is stenciled with paint so you'll need that color as well, it will be $10 per person. (Melissa said the ribbons will be longer). So I have a hard time thinking of books to read, but I think I found one that most of you haven't read:

"Fablehaven" by Brandon Mull

It's a series, and it's really surprisingly good. I'm just about to start book 4 in the series. The first half of the book is kinda slow, but the rest is super intense and really good. It's a fantasy novel written by a fellow Utahn.

I suggest getting on the list asap to get it so we can all read it this month. It's about 350 pages. If anyone wants a copy, I have one. You can also buy it at Sam's Club for less than 5 bucks.

We're going to have our next craft group on Thursday, May 6th at my house (8464 Yellow Poppy) at 7 p.m.
We will be making this super cute wood craft from the Wood Connection; two butterflies on a stand. I'm not able to post a picture since our camera went with Adam to South Africa (snif snif).
The cost will be $7.50.
You won't need to bring anything unless you have some really cute pink glitter you want to use (I have some too, but it's not the Martha Stewart cute stuff) or some paint for the butterflies if you don't like pink and purple.
Please let me know if you are able to come before Wednesday the 28th, so I can order it and pick it all up on time. Thanks!

So the Stake Women's Conference is on April 1st, so that is a problem. We are moving craft club to the second Thursday of the month...April 8th. Let us know if that is a problem. She has already ordered the craft so if you can all still come or just get the craft that will be good.

This is the craft for April. The seeds are just painted on but i thought it would be cute with wood seeds that we can glue on it. And the ribbon I didn't buy, but you could add it because it looks cute! The cost is seven fifty. Bring your own paints and whatever brushes you have ( I have brushes that i can share )... the colors are red ( kinda a darker barn red) , or whatever red you want, green, black, and yellow ( a darker yellow is what they used ) And I'm providing the glitter. Please let Lindy and i know if you are coming or if you want the craft? Sorry, it wont let me post it on the blog for some reason. Hope to see you all there :)

I am just letting everyone know that Cami Catmull is going to host our craft for the month of April. She just lives a few doors down from me. March Craft Club Update

Ok Ladies! It's finally here! March craft club will be held on March 11th, this Thursday @ my house @ 7:30. The cost is $6.75 and you'll have to bring your own paint. The colors you need are a darker yellow (or whatever yellow you want or have), orange, black, white, and a tan. If you don't have any of these and don't want to go out and buy just one, i'm sure we'll all share. Please make sure to bring your money that night! I can email my address to you guys again if you need it, (I don't really want to put it on here). I'm excited to see all of you. Here is the list again of who I got a craft for:

Final count on craft club

Ok ladies, I need to go to wood connection tomorrow to order our craft, 2 little chicks coming out of eggs. (they are really cute). I need to know if you are coming, if you haven't already told me, by friday February 26 @ 12:00 pm. March Craft Club

Hello Ladies! Its time again for another fun craft! I will be holding this month's craft club on March 11th, since March 4th is my anniversary and we will be in California. So, I have no idea what we are doing yet, but i'd like to get a count of who is coming so I can try to get it taken care of this week. Please contact those who don't look at this blog and ask them if they would like to participate too. It will most likely be an Easter craft, but if they don't have anything cute (which they didn't last weekend when I went) it will be a spring craft. Lindy asked me to post this for her!

Tomorrow nite, February 4th, is craft group at Lindy's house. The cost is going to be $9. If everyone could bring whatever brushes, green, black, and gold paint that they have to share, that would be great. Also black glitter if you have it!

She also said that if we want to come in shifts, like some people at 7:00 and some at 8:00, that might help so it's not so crazy.

So maybe if people could post here what time they think they'll be coming?

Craft questions/BOOK CLUB reminder

I just wanted to take a vote. Who wants to do a St. Patricks day craft? And who wants a spring? I was thinking you can never have to many spring things. But Stacy found a st. patricks one. I could also do both if they have similar colors or something. I don't know just a thought! This will also give me a count of who is coming. Another question what day the 4th or the 11th? what works best for you? Thanks!

Hey Gals! If any of you are interested, Stacy and I are going to start doing some sort of exercise group on Wednesdays. We thought we could lead everyone in a "strength training" class of sorts. If you want to join in, we'd love to have ya! We are planning to meet every Wednesday at 9am @ the clubhouse. Bring hand weights if you have them. Hope to see you there...although we're not planning on a big turnout seeing how half of you are pregnant. (We have probably set a record for the most "clubs" or "groups" in one area...maybe we should just all move in together! he he.)
P.S. I have a copy of next months book and I'm almost finished. I can pass it around if anyone wants it.

Hello everyone!

Here is a picture of the craft.

You'll notice I did pink glitter on my lips. That was just my own personal glitter. I didn't buy it for all of us because the price for this craft is already on the high side. What I do have that you are welcome to use (because my pink glitter is all gone or else I'd share!) is silver glitter spray. That is also what I used on the red part of the heart. (You all know I love to bling mine out!) Or you can leave the lips plain, or if you have your own pink glitter you are welcome to bring it and use my spray glue. Totally up to you!

Hello ladies!

I have picked up the craft from Wood Connection and have made mine up! It is really cute! Craft group is this Thursday, January 14th at 7:00 p.m. at my house. Remember to bring your red, white, and pink paint! I am happy to share what I have, but it is definitely not enough for everyone! The cost is $8!

If you know that you aren't going to be able to make it, you are welcome to come by and pick yours up and see mine or take a picture of it or whatever. You can take it home to paint it, and then when you are ready to do the glitter part, you can bring it back over to my house to do it. Or if it is after Thursday, you are welcome to borrow the spray glue and the glitter to take to your house to do it.

February Book!

Hi my friends!
Just wanted to give you a heads up for the Feb. book so you can locate a copy...it's kind of hard to get from the library. Anyway, it's "The Hunger Games", by Suzanne Collins. I'll be hosting that month and plan to do it on Thursday, Feb.25th, 7:30pm...my house. Hope that works for you! (I am so loving the January book...great choice, Lindy!)
