We are going to have a potluck, so please bring your favorite Halloween themed dish to share. Please post whether you are bringing sweet or savory so that we can have a good balance of both since it will be lunch time!

I have decided to pick "The Heretic's Daughter" by Kathleen Kent as our May book. I couldn't place a book club hold on it since there were no copies checked in, so you are advised to place your own hold. There are two publishing years (2008/2009). I think that there are NO holds on the 2009 version, so get that one if you want to get it quick. The book is a little over 300 pages, so hurry!

Amazon's Synopsis: A family's conflict becomes a battle for life and death in this gripping and original first novel based on family history from a descendant of a condemned Salem witch. It is a really interesting book, and there are two subsequent books as well, so hopefully you'll like it enough to keep reading!

Hey Ladies!
The book for March is The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. It is a set in Europe after World War 2 but is not really a "war" book.

Since I have only been a few times I am not sure when is the best time to have it. I was thinking we could do Thursday, March 31st since we are already into March. What do you guys think? It is a pretty short book. I didn't put any on hold with the County Library system because I don't have a county Library card but maybe Katy can do that. I will also try to get a few books from the Murray library and let you know if I have them.

How about Monday, Feb.28th, 11am at the clubhouse? Let me know if this works, cause my schedule is pretty open on most days. =) I was thinking that if each child brought one toy to share, then all the kids could have something to play with while we visit? I'm excited to hear what ya'll thought about the book. Now that I'm re-reading it, I remember how in depth it is...it really takes about 200 pages to get into the good parts of the story. Hope you are enjoying it.

My Fellow Readers!
I have decided what book we will be reading for February...I have gone back and forth about this one because I don't know how many of you like fantasy books...and it's kinda lengthy...but anyway, it's called "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss. It is one of my all time favorite books! It is different than anything we've read thus far, but so entertaining...give it 100 pages to really get the story going. I have placed 6 copies on hold at the library and they should be available by next week. That way you can have a head start on reading it. Enjoy!

Sorry ladies for not being on the ball with this! Life has definitely been crazy...but I am still planning on hosting December's craft group. We will make those big letter initials with scrapbook paper, hung by ribbon. I will be having it at my house, December 9th at 7:30pm. I will provide the letters, black paint for the edges, and modge podge. You will have to bring your own scrapbook paper and ribbon to coordinate. I used about seven different patterns of paper in coordinating red, black, and greens but you can do whatever you like for yourself! If you could let me know if you are coming and want a letter by Tuesday December 7th that would be great because I will go pick up the letters on Wednesday. Alright ladies, here is the craft for November.

With the supplies I've bought so far, each person can have up to nine ornaments. You can see I only used seven. The example I showed used five. It's up to you!

Does anyone know of anyone else who is interested in coming? I've bought all of the supplies already, but need to know soon if we need to adjust for more people.

As of right now, the price for each person is $5.25.

I got two colors of spray paint: gold and silver. If you want something different, you'll have to do it on your own. I figure those are both pretty neutral. Also, I have a variety of ornaments - there are the blues, purples, and pinks I used, but also lots of silver, gold, red, and green, too, if you want a more traditional look. It will be first come, first serve that nite!

I said it before - but things are going to be incredibly busy for me starting tomorrow (we all are, aren't we?!?!) so my time to get out and get to the store is going to be quite limited. Alrighty, here's what I've got so far for November craft group.

We will be meeting on Thursday, November 11th, at 7:00 p.m. at my house.

You will need to provide your own frame (or wreath).

I will provide spray paint for your frame/wreath. I will probably have three colors, likely just generic colors that could go with most decor (i.e. silver, gold, red, etc.) If you want something different, then you'll have to do it on your own!

I will also provide the ribbon and ornaments.

Sarah N. asked about the size of the frame. I actually have no clue what size the frame I showed a picture is, but if I had to guess, I would say 11x14. I'm just going to assume we'll all be in that range for ribbon buying purposes.

Hey Girls! Sarah Armes will be hosting November's Book Club which is going to be "A Yellow Raft in Blue Water" by Michael Dorris. Sounds fun! With Thanksgiving being on the last Thursday of the month, we'll have to do it the 18th. Sorry I am kind of late with getting info together for this. October has flown by, and it has just been a crazy busy month!

I have a committment in Provo on November 4th, so I will probably have to do craft group on November 11th. I know there is something going on that nite that will conflict with craft group for some of us, but I don't know what else to do! Wednesdays are out for me because Josh has elder's quorum that nite and wouldn't be home to take my kids. So I'm sorry in advance for whoever this causes a conflict for!

Here is what I am thinking of doing:

I will not be providing frames. I am hoping that if you want a frame, you have one you would be able to bring. I am planning on using an old one I have. (I may have extra, but don't know that for sure at the moment.) It can really be as big or small as you want. I would provide spray paint for your frame.

If you do not want to do a frame, I can look into prices for wreaths. I may be able to find some at a dollar store, which would be awesome, but no guarantees. If you get Michael's or Joann's or Hobby Lobby's coupons, you may want to choose to pick up your own wreath so that you could use your coupon.

Please let me know what you would do/want me to do for that part of the craft.

I will provide all of the ribbon and ornaments for this door decoration. I will not be paper mache-ing all of them for us to paint like the ones shown (sorry, WAY too much work!) but I will still have something fun and pretty to hang.

I can't give you an idea on price yet, as I have not been to the store. But I will do my best to keep it $10 or under - I promise! I am a big coupon person, so I'll try to get as much as I can with my coupons.

Craft Club October

This is a reminder that craft club will be on October 7 @ 7:00 p.m. @ my home. As far as paint, I have the paint for the body, gobbler, and the black for the stand if you are doing it. I also have the glitter for the gobbler. The only paint you will need to bring will be for the feathers of the turkey, and the scrapbook paper you want to use. If you are wanting to do the same colors that they have on the turkey @ Wood Connection, you could share it with 3 or 4 people, you don't need that much, there are just 8 different colors. Here are the colors they used, all ceramacoat:

Tompte Red, Empire Gold, Pansy, Leaf Green, Navy Blue, Poppy Orange, Tomato Spice, and Purple.

Hopefully this helps, and it would be a good idea to share the feather paint with 3-4 people, unless you really like those colors and will use them again :)

October Craft Club

Ok here is the craft for October! I just wanted you to all see him and start thinking about if you want to make him! We will be doing it at my house on October 7th so you can start planning if you can make it. I need to know by September 24th if you want to make one, if you are coming or not.

Here is a break down of costs without paint, jewels, ribbon or glitter. I need to know if you want the turkey and the "give thanks" stand, or just the turkey. I'm fine either way you want to go, it will cost you less if you don't want to do the stand.

Mr. Turkey is $5.75
The stand is $1.25
Vinyl lettering is $2.00

Keep in mind these costs are before tax and as I said I haven't included any of the other things to go along with the craft. As soon as I figure out pricing on the other stuff I will have a more accurate cost, these costs are just the wood craft itself. Also, there are 8 different colors on each of the turkey's feathers, so I will most likely only be providing the black for the stand (if you want it) the paint for both body pieces, and the gobbler.

Another thing you will need to think about is what scrapbook paper you want to put with him. I could probably add that into the cost too, since there isn't that much, but you might want it to match the colors you will paint the feathers. I will post at the bottom the colors of the feathers if you want to match them exactly.

One more thing, if you want to do the stand, they had 2 different sayings so I will need to know which saying you want on your stand. They are: "Give Thanks" and "Harvest Blessings".
Sorry for the long post, but hopefully we can get this done soon so I can pick them all up and have them ready to go for October 7th!

Just thought I better let everyone know what the book is for September.

We're going to be reading These Is My Words by Nancy E. Turner.

I don't have a copy myself, and it is usually requested at the library, so you might want to get on the hold list now! It is a different format that took some getting used to for me, but I really ended up liking the style and the progression and growth of the characters.

Book club will either be on September 23rd or 30th at my house at 7:30 p.m. I'll let you know the date for sure as it gets closer.

Just wanted to let everyone who has signed up for the "WICKED", that craft club will be on Thursday, September 2nd, @ 7:30 pm at my house. PLEASE make sure that if you haven't paid me, to bring your money that night. It is $19.00 per person (and I do need to be reimbursed that night), so if you can't make please come by before or that night to pay me and pick up your craft. Don't forget that DOES NOT include paint. You will need purple, lime green, and orange. Sarah Nuttall and I already painted the hats black, so you don't need black paint anymore.

Hopefully everyone is okay, but the cost ended up being $19.00 each. That includes: The Wicked letters, witch hat, scrapbook paper, orange rafia, purple wire and purple glitter. I already have green and orange glitter, and am totally fine with everyone using it, especially because it is expensive this time. I also have green, purple and black tule that everyone can use. The one at wood connection has orange instead of black, but I didn't dare buy anything else. The cost DOES NOT include paint. You will need Lime Green, Purple, Orange and Black. I have some, but not enough for everyone.

If anyone is about ready to scream about the cost, SORRY !!! But, to bring it down, you could provide your own scrapbook paper, and OR leave out the witch hat. If anyone would prefer that, I am totally fine with returning those things. Let me know if anyone would rather do it that way!!!

Also if anyone wants pay before craft night, that would be great. If not, just make sure you bring your money that night.

I have decided to do the "Wicked" from wood connection. I am not exactly sure on the cost but I am going to go on Saturday to check it out. ....I sorta forgot August is my month for Book Club...duh!! July has just been too crazy!! Anyways, sorry for the late post (although if we had July Book Club we would of met tonight and then I would of introduced next months book anyway I guess..) but now I am just rambling..sorry! So for August lets do The Giver by Lois Lowry. It's a great book; pretty short and easy read. Some of you may have read it because it's a common book to read in High School but I think it will be a fun one to do! Plus there are discussion questions in the back of the book- bonus! This is what we will be doing, included in the price is ribbon, board, and metal. You'll need to bring your own paint, and the word is stenciled with paint so you'll need that color as well, it will be $10 per person. (Melissa said the ribbons will be longer). It will be at Sarah Nuttall's on August 5 @ 7:00, so let us know if you haven't already if you want one so we can get it ordered. Ok, we are going to be making a wall hanging that says Autumn. These are really cute, long peice of wood painted with Autumn stenciled on it, hung by a iron rod with ribbon tied to it. So I have a hard time thinking of books to read, but I think I found one that most of you haven't read:

"Fablehaven" by Brandon Mull

It's a series, and it's really surprisingly good. I'm just about to start book 4 in the series. The first half of the book is kinda slow, but the rest is super intense and really good. It's a fantasy novel written by a fellow Utahn.

I suggest getting on the list asap to get it so we can all read it this month. It's about 350 pages. If anyone wants a copy, I have one. You can also buy it at Sam's Club for less than 5 bucks.

Hello ladies!
We're going to have our next craft group on Thursday, May 6th at my house (8464 Yellow Poppy) at 7 p.m.
We will be making this super cute wood craft from the Wood Connection; two butterflies on a stand. I'm not able to post a picture since our camera went with Adam to South Africa (snif snif).
The cost will be $7.50.
You won't need to bring anything unless you have some really cute pink glitter you want to use (I have some too, but it's not the Martha Stewart cute stuff) or some paint for the butterflies if you don't like pink and purple.
Please let me know if you are able to come before Wednesday the 28th, so I can order it and pick it all up on time. Thanks!

This is the craft for April. The seeds are just painted on but i thought it would be cute with wood seeds that we can glue on it. And the ribbon I didn't buy, but you could add it because it looks cute! The cost is seven fifty. Bring your own paints and whatever brushes you have ( I have brushes that i can share )... the colors are red ( kinda a darker barn red) , or whatever red you want, green, black, and yellow ( a darker yellow is what they used ) And I'm providing the glitter. Please let Lindy and i know if you are coming or if you want the craft? Sorry, it wont let me post it on the blog for some reason. Hope to see you all there :)

Ok Ladies! It's finally here! March craft club will be held on March 11th, this Thursday @ my house @ 7:30. The cost is $6.75 and you'll have to bring your own paint. The colors you need are a darker yellow (or whatever yellow you want or have), orange, black, white, and a tan. If you don't have any of these and don't want to go out and buy just one, i'm sure we'll all share. Please make sure to bring your money that night! Hello Ladies! Its time again for another fun craft! I will be holding this month's craft club on March 11th, since March 4th is my anniversary and we will be in California. So, I have no idea what we are doing yet, but i'd like to get a count of who is coming so I can try to get it taken care of this week. Lindy asked me to post this for her!

Tomorrow nite, February 4th, is craft group at Lindy's house. The cost is going to be $9. If everyone could bring whatever brushes, green, black, and gold paint that they have to share, that would be great. Also black glitter if you have it!

She also said that if we want to come in shifts, like some people at 7:00 and some at 8:00, that might help so it's not so crazy.
